I am writing in response to your letter of July 24, 2003 referencing the ongoing labor dispute between the Guild and The Providence Journal Company and the roles of certain named PJC officers. We are cognizant of the allegations made by the Guild in this proceeding and have reviewed the cited decisions of the National Labor Relations Board administrative law judge which we understand are not final, are being contested on appeal and are subject to change. Based on our understanding of the facts and circumstances, we have no reason to think the Guild's accusations are valid. Moreover, the outstanding individuals you name have certainly not been found guilty of any illegal conduct that would require disciplinary action.
