Guild Responds to Tragedy:

Byline strike deferred till June 20

The Guild Executive Board has postponed a planned byline strike one week, in deference to the employees and their families who were affected by Saturday's tragic shootings at the Providence production facility and in Warwick.

The byline strike had been planned for Thursday's paper, but board members conferred over the weekend and Monday morning and decided that this week was not the time to take such an action.

Although the people killed and hurt in the incidents were not in the Guild, the board felt that our members' efforts would be better aimed at sending thoughts and prayers to the families of the dead and injured rather that adding to an already stressful situation with a high-profile job action.

The byline strike has been rescheduled for the paper that will appear Thursday, June 20.
